Hey all don't forget to enter our FIRST EVER COMPETITION!!! That's right, the search is on for the best recipe. We want you to enter (as many times as you want) recipes that your family and friends crave and cause them to come back for seconds and thirds. For more on this jump on thefamilyroom and check out our April 15th post - COMPETITION TIME - Soul Food of Your Home!
We're doing this in an effort to get families back to the dining table. We want to see families eating together, communicating and simply enjoying one another.
So, don't delay get your entry in and let the competition begin! Can't wait to read your submission. Grand Prize is the famous familyroom gift pack ~ something everyone wants to win. Plus, we will interview you and share your story (because everyone has a story) on our blog and radio show. Send your entries to firstname.lastname@example.org - competition closes May 15th, 2009.
Our days are filled with so much mystery that you just never know what one day will hold. Will today be the day you finally win the lottery? Will you make a new friend? Will today be the day you hear bad news?
When our alarm goes off, and our feet (finally) hit the floor we never truly know what the day will hold. We muster up the strength and find the desire to rise from our cosy nest of slumber and face another day with VIGOR, STRENGTH AND ENDURANCE. We do this because we never know what surprises today has in store for us.
For this reason I have decided to share (see bar to your left in red) about my day, what it has looked like, what I've accomplished, the challenges I've faced and all the in between. I hope you enjoy these bursts of life that are usually contained in a handful of some complete and some very incomplete sentences ~ just another way of communicating the life of a mum on the move!
Hey friends I hosted an amazing show today and would love you to listen ON DEMAND.
The show was inspired by the courage of Susan Boyle (Britian's Got Talent see http://www.thefamilyroomaustralia.blogspot article April 16, 09 titled 'Go Susan Boyle'). I had two guests with me, Wendy Froberg, who at the age of 51 decided to throw the towel in on her exceptional career and practice that she had built up over decades (she was a well respected phycologist in Canada). My other guest was 72 year old, Isabel Taylor, who in her 60's wrote her first book and her second at 65.
Amazing stories of two women who have dared to be different and dared to live the dream. They stepped out mid-life and began to live the dream.
I would love you to listen to the show and allow yourself to be inspired by the lives of two extraordinary women in my world. Like Susan Boyle, they have decided to step on to the stage and allow their gifts to be shared and enjoyed.
Happy Easter everyone! I hope this weekend is filled with good food, great company and way too much chocolate.
I encourage you to simply enjoy this weekend. Spend time reflecting on the past and refocussing for the future. If you are enjoying the 'long weekend' then let your body relax and recharge, go for a walk a bike ride or a hike with the family. Allow your soul space to settle so it can be, as that your life can be just as that great hymn says, 'it is well, it is well, it is well with my soul.' Then of course, being body, soul and spirit you need to give your spirit time to rejoice in all things new. New life, new hope, new vision and new creativity. Acknowledge life and allow life to extend to it's fullest and dare to even dream what the days, weeks and months ahead could look like.
So friends, enjoy your chocolate (or stealing a few pieces from your kiddies:). Let me know how your Easter worked out and please stay in touch.

Hey all I want to encourage you to jump over to thefamilyroom site and check out all the stats and information I've put on there regarding Teen Suicide (http://thefamilyroomaustralia.blogspot.com). I also would love you to have a listen to today's morning show (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/susanjsohn) where we truly unpacked Teen Suicide.
Big topic indeed and one that needs to be discussed. Stats are scary friends. Our children are at risk. Join the conversation and together let's see the suicide rates amongst teens decrease.
Thanks for going on this journey with me. I truly value and appreciate every one of you!
So here's what happened today....i woke up at 6:30 had some time to myself ~ love the morn and being able to grab a few minutes to myself to focus and get myself ready for the day. got breakie ready. drove kids to school. came home. unloaded the dishwasher. prepared for my morning radio show on blogtalkradio. hosted an amazing show and once again reminded myself that i love what i do. finished my show. did a little planning for today's show and friday. jumped in the car and headed to hear my children singing at a midday concert (they are in an amazing choir). went for a quick bite of japanese. picked up kiddies from school. then it all begins. dropped one at dance. headed to costco and did my first ever major costco shop....it was fun! picked up one child. headed home. unpacked groceries. made dinner. had a glass of vino (yumm-o). sat and listened to my eldest prepare and practice an oral presentation for the next day. put kids to bed. sat down and wrote an article based on the experience of listening to my eldest. ahhh what a life. what will tomorrow bring.
